This beautiful edition of Sketches of Animal Life and Habits by Andrew Wilson was published by W & R Chambers Ltd. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be late 19th Century (circa 1890).
The book is bound in original orange cloth with beautiful gilt decoration to the front and spine. Externally, it's in very good condition with light wear and crushing to the corners. The boards have some light marking and discolouration and the spine is darkened and a bit dulled. There is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the front free endpaper and half title page have been removed. There are two title pages, one is illustrated. The pages are clean and bright with occasional foxing and handling marks. The book is illustrated with black and white illustrations within the text.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 13.2cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
