This stunning Miniature Notebook features Mauchline Ware Boards with two different scenes of Bath on the front and back. The front features Bath Abbey and the back features the iconic Royal Crescent. There is a small metal clasp and a leather pen/pencil loop for a small pencil. All edges gilt. Mauchline Ware was a technique that originated in the 1830's in the Scottish town of Mauchline in which a transfer print was applied to a lacquered wooden object.
It's in very good condition, with light bumping and scuffing to the mauchline ware boards. The clasp fits only loosely and could do with some adjustment. There is light wear to the leather spine and pencil loop.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been glued to the front pastedown and there are some pencilled names, dates and address inside. The back few pages have some holes (possible staple holes?). Dimensions of this tiny notebook approximately 7.3cm x 4.7cm x 1.5cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I try to use eco friendly packaging wherever possible. This includes 100% recycled jiffy bags, biodegradable bubble wrap, and paper offcuts from the newspaper industry.
