This beautiful edition of Arnold Inglehurst by Evelyn Everett Green was published by John F Shaw and Co. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1901. So the book is from the end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in blue blue cloth with beautiful floral decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. It’s in good condition, but there is wear and crushing to the corners, with minor fraying to the cloth. There is wear to the board edges and rubbing to the gilt. The back board shows minor marking and the spine is faded with rubbing to the decoration. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the pages show significant tanning and the text block is shaky, with cracks to the gutter in places. There is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and some numbers to the top corner of the FFEP. There is occasional marking to the pages.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 15cm x 4.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
