This stunning antique edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe was published by Frederick Warne and Co for the Star Series. The book itself isn't dated but I've seen books in this same binding with inscriptions and they usually date from the late Victorian era to the Edwardian era (1890-1905).
The book is bound in grey green cloth with blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition, with just some light wear to the corners and minor marks to the boards. The spine is a little rubbed and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the pages are age toned and there is sporadic foxing and minor marking. The endpapers are tanned but there are no inscriptions or writings of any kind.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 13cm x 2.8cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
