This sweet little set of two books were published by The Epworth Press. The books aren't dated but after some research, I'd estimate them to be from circa 1940's.
British Fungi and How to Identify Them and British Ferns and How to Identify Them were both written by J H Crabtree. They are bound in slightly different shades of green cloth, with pasted on illustrations to the front boards. They're in very good condition with minor marks to the cloth and light sunning to the spines. Sadly there are two cuts to the spine of the Fungi book. There is also wear and minor fraying to the corners.
Both volumes have a stamp to the front free endpaper reading Eastbourne Girls' Youth Centre and the initials YC in pencil. The pages show age toning and there are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places - despite this, the pages remain tightly bound. There are small cuts to the fore-edges of the Fungi book and this can also be seen to the page edges.
Dimensions of each volume approximately 17cm x 11.3cm x 0.8cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
