This sweet book contains collections of nature poetry and illustrations through the seasons. It was published by Griffith, Farran and Company. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1892. So the book is Victorian.
It's bound in green cloth with delicate gilt decoration in gold and silver to the front board. All edges gilt. It's in very good condition, with light wear and crushing to the corners and bumping to the board edges. There is minor marking and discolouration to the cloth.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and this has left an offset impression to the opposite page. There is also the residue leftover from a post it note. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing, with creasing to the bottom corners. The illustrations in this book are just stunning and compliment the verse beautifully.
