This stunning edition of The Fruit Manual; A Guide to The Fruits and Fruit Trees of Great Britain by Robert Hogg was published by Journal of Horticulture Office in 1884. It features a fine half Morocco binding and marbled paper boards. The text block edges are marbled and the spine has five raised bands and gilt detail.
It's in very good condition with light wear to the board edges and corners. The top edge of the text block is dulled and the spine is faintly faded and scuffed.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing. The preliminary and end pages are tanned. There is a beautiful penned inscription - the book was gifted as a token of remembrance for a William Walter Wildsmith who passed.
The book measures approximately 22cm x 15cm x 5.3cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
