This lovely antique edition of Garden Mosaics Philosophical, Moral and Horticultural by Alfred Simson was published by Duckworth and Co in 1903. So the book is from the earlier part of the Edwardian era.
This lovely book is bound in green cloth with delicate floral and foliage detailing to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition considering it's over 120 years old, but the corners do show some light wear and minor fraying to the cloth. The boards show faint marking and discolouration and the spine also shows some faded discolouration to the cloth. The spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is very minor cracking just starting to the hinges and the endpapers are tanned. The pages show some light marking and soiling in places. There are some tiny circular impressions to the front free endpaper which can be seen for the first few preliminary pages.
The page edges are rough cut which is a lovely feature in old books and there are black and white illustration plates throughout.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 15cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
