This sweet book called Black Puppy A Story for Children was written by Theodora Elmslie and published by Griffith, Farran, Browne and Co in 1899. So the book is late Victorian.
It's bound in original navy cloth with gilt decoration to the front and spine. It's in very good condition with light bumping to the board edges and rubbing to the corners. The cloth shows minor marking and there is faint sunning to the spine. There is a little rubbing to the gilt too.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and there is some pencilled writing to the verso of the frontispiece. The pages show sporadic handling marks and faint creasing. The illustrations in this book are just stunning and compliment the story beautifully.
Dimensions approximately 19.5cm x 13.5cm x 2.1cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
