This beautiful vintage book includes Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte, The Professor by Charlotte Bronte and Poems by the Bronte Sisters. It was published by London & Glasgow, Collins Clear Type Press. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the early part of the 20th century (circa 1910-1920).
The book is bound in blue cloth with pretty gilt decoration in an art nouveau style to the front board and spine. It's a scarce binding and sought after with Bronte collectors.
It's in very good condition with the main flaw being the tanning and age spotting to the spine. The corners are lightly worn and there is minor foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, the pages show light age toning throughout, with some occasional marking and foxing. There is a name plate glued on the verso of the frontispiece. The ribbon page marker is discoloured and frayed.
The book features four striking colour plates by Arthur H Buckland.
Book Size: 18cm x 11.5cm x 2.5cm (Approx.)
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
