This lovely edition of Woodstock and The Fair Maid of Perth by Sir Walter Scott was published by WP Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell. The book is bound in half calf over marbled paper boards. The text block edges are marbled and the spine features five raised bands and gilt tooling.
The book is in good condition but there is quite significant wear to the leather, with loss to the surface at the corners and spine edges - the leather at the corners has split to reveal the board beneath. The boards show scuffing and wear and the spine is slightly darkened, with minor chipping to the surface of the leather. The book has a slight forward lean and there is dulling to the top edge of the text block.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and the pages are clean and bright with only occasional foxing and marking.
Book measures approximately 19cm x 13.3cm x 3.8cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
