This stunning edition of Aileen Aroon A Memoir With Other Tales of Faithful Friends and Favourites by Gordon Stables was published by S W Partridge and Co. The book itself isn't dated but after some research, I'd estimate it to be 1880's. This is a very scarce book and at the time of listing, I can find no other 19th Century editions for sale online.
The book is bound in teal cloth over bevelled boards with elaborate decoration in black and gilt to the front cover and spine. It's in excellent condition, with light rubbing to the corners and board edges. There is a small chip in the cloth covering the bottom of the back board. The spine is very faintly sunned with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but the pages show age toning and sporadic foxing throughout. The book is filled with black and white illustrations within the text. Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 14.4cm x 3.8cm.
Each book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
