This beautiful edition of Captain Cook's Voyage was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate the book to be from circa 1880.
The book is bound in blue cloth over bevelled boards with beautiful gilt and floral decoration to the front board and spine. The delicate gilt butterflies to the front board are particularly pretty. It's in very good condition but the cloth does show some light soiling and discolouration. The cloth of the front board and spine is a little dulled. The corners are worn and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the book has been given new endpapers and there is age toning throughout. There is scattered foxing and the title page is a little loose at the bottom. There is a name stamped on the verso of the frontispiece.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
