This beautiful vintage edition of the The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was published by Edward Henry Wells. The book is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1910/1911. So the book is likely Edwardian. It's bound in quarter vellum over maroon cloth boards, with pretty floral detail to the spine and a leather title label. The front board has a blind stamped school insignia in gilt to the front.
It's in very good condition with light wear to the corners which has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The vellum is soiled and there are some small chips to the leather title label. The back board shows some marks.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and there is heavy foxing to the preliminary and end pages. The rest of the pages show lighter age toning and only occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 18.1cm x 12.4cm x 3.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
