This lovely antique edition of The Poetical Works of Mrs Elizabeth Barrett Browning was published by Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell in 1889.
This lovely book is bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards, with delicate decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine. The edges are all gilt. It's in very good condition with light wear to the corners and board edges. The cloth shows minor marks and there is fading and dulling to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the pages show age toning throughout and sporadic foxing (most prominent to preliminary and end pages). There are lovely black and white plates throughout the book.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13.3cm x 3.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
