This beautiful antique edition of The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was published by Frederick Warne. The book is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1901-02. So the book is Edwardian.
The book is bound in full calf leather with a school insignia blind stamped in gilt to the front. The text block edges are marbled and there are five raised bands to the spine. There is a leather title label and gilt tooling.
The book is in very good condition with light wear to the corners and extremities. There is marking and scuffing to the boards and rubbing to the spine. The top edge of the text block is dulled.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and the pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing. A few flowers and petals have been pressed inside, causing offset discolouration to the pages.
Dimensions approximately 19.4cm x 14.3cm x 4.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
