This stunning antique edition of Poetical Works of Lord Lytton was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself is undated but there is a penned name inside dated 1886.
The book is bound in blue cloth over bevelled boards, with beautiful floral decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. It's a very attractive binding and in very good condition. There is sunning and light rubbing to the spine, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The corners are lightly worn.
Inside, there is a name and date in pen to the front pastedown and a bookseller's stamp to the top corner of the FFEP. The pages show age toning and foxing throughout - the foxing is most prominent to the preliminary pages and back pages. On the front board it says that the book is illustrated but I can find no evidence of illustrations, other than the frontispiece.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13.5cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
