This stunning antique edition of The Poetical Works of Eliza Cook was published by Frederick Warne and Co. The book itself is undated but there is a faint inscription on the front pastedown dated 1886. So the book is from the mid to late Victorian era.
The book is bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards, with ornate blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine. All edges are gilt.
It's in near fine condition, with only light rubbing to the corners and minor marking to the cloth. The spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is a faint inscription on the front pastedown and there is a slight crack to the gutter at the half title page. The pages show occasional foxing but are otherwise clean and bright.
The book features a handful of beautiful black and white illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 18.5cm x 13.3cm x 3.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
