This beautiful vintage edition of The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens Collins Clear Type Press. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to have been published circa 1900.
The book is bound in green cloth with blind stamped floral decoration to the front board and gilt to the spine. It's an attractive binding with an art nouveau feel. There is wear though, and the boards have some marks and small stains. The corners show some wear and the spine is faintly sunned. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some minor splitting in the cloth. The text block edges are very tanned.
Inside, the pages show significant tanning throughout with occasional foxing and creasing. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions (including slipcase) approximately 19cm x 11.5cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
