This beautiful vintage edition of The Note Book; A Collection of Anecdotes and Illustrations for the Use of Teachers was published by The Sunday School Union. There is no date inside but from my own research, I estimate the book to have been published in the late Victorian era (circa 1880's). The book is bound in red cloth with delicate decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine.
It's in very good condition but wear to the corners has caused minor fraying to the cloth at the bottom corners. The cloth shows minor marks and the spine is faintly sunned. There is a small hole in the cloth along the front joint and crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the pages show light age toning throughout and some of the corners have been dog eared by a previous reader, which has left creasing behind.
Dimensions approximately 17.8cm x 11.5cm x 0.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
