This lovely edition of A Wife from the Country by F.E.Reade was published by The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1904. So the book is likely from the Edwardian era. It's bound in original pale brown cloth with pictorial decoration to the front and spine.
It's in good condition, with some light wear and loss to the pictorial decoration. The book has a forward lean and there is minor marking to the pale cloth. There is bumping to the spine ends and top corner of the back board.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front free endpaper and the endpapers show tanning. There is some pencilled writing to the front pastedown. There is sporadic foxing to the pages and occasional cracks to the gutter - despite this, the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 18.7cm x 12.8cm x 2.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
