This lovely edition of The Language of Flowers was published by Ward, Lock and Co. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be late Victorian (circa 1890).
The book is bound in original green cloth with stunning blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine. It's in near fine condition, with light wear to the corners and minor rubbing to the spine. The spine ends are bumped.
Inside, there are no inscriptions or writings of any kind. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. There is slight cracking to the gutter in places (including at the title page) but the pages remain tight to the binding.
There is one colour plate and more numerous black and white line drawings within the text. Dimensions approximately 15.4cm x 10.2cm x 1.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I try to use eco friendly packaging whenever possible. My jiffy bags are 100% recyclable, I use paper tape and oxo-degradable bubble wrap.
