This lovely miniature book of The Language and Sentiment of Flowers was published by Frederick Warne and Co. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be late Victorian (circa 1890).
The book is bound in pale grey cloth with stunning blind stamped decoration to the front board and spine. It's a very striking little book but not in as good condition as the Language of Flowers books I'd usually sell. It's been priced accordingly. The cloth is very soiled and marked and the gilt is dulled. The corners are lightly worn and the spine ends are crushed.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed. The pages show light age toning and foxing throughout, with occasional marking. There is superficial cracking to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 12.5cm x 9cm x 1.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough.
