This stunning edition of The Coral Island by RM Ballantyne was published by Blackie and Son in 1902. So the book is from the start of the Edwardian era.
The book is beautifully bound in dark green cloth with pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. There is a small hole in the cloth at the top of the front board and some tiny holes along the external joints. The spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and tanning to the endpapers. The rest of the pages show lighter age toning with sporadic foxing- there are also occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 18.7cm x 13cm x 2.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
