This beautiful edition of The Gold That Perisheth by David Lyall was published by the Religious Tract Society. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1914. So the book is likely from the late Edwardian era or just after. It is bound in brown cloth, with beautiful pictorial decoration to the front board and spine.
It's in very good condition with just light wear and bumping to the corners. The text block edges show foxing and there is some minor marking to the boards. The spine is faintly sunned, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and there is tanning to the endpapers. The FFEP has an address written in pencil. The pages show age toning and significant foxing throughout. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 20.2cm x 14cm x 4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
