This stunning pictorial binding features The Gateway to Shakespeare and was published by Thomas Nelson and Sons. The book itself is undated but I've done some research, and this particular edition that was edited by Mrs Lang was thought to be published between 1908 and 1918.

It's bound in blue cloth over bevelled boards with stunning pictorial decoration and gilt lettering to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but there is soiling and marking to the cloth, and wear to the corners has caused minor fraying in the cloth. The spine is darkened and rubbed, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is cracking to the hinges but the pages remain tightly bound. There are no inscriptions. The pages show sporadic marking and staining but the text is clear and bright. As mentioned above, most of the black and white illustrations have been coloured in. There is also a large scribble in pen to the back pastedown.
