This stunning antique edition of The Queen Bee and Other Nature Tales Translated from the Danish of Carl Ewald was published by T Nelson and Sons in 1908. So the book is from the latter part of the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards, with ornate gilt decoration in a very art nouveau style to the front board and spine. It's a really attractive book and in very good condition for it's age. There is light wear to the corners and some bumping to the boards to the board edges. The spine ends are crushed which has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully illustrated and there is a rubbed out name and date to the reverse of the frontispiece. The frontispiece also shows two small tears to the bottom edge. The pages show age toning throughout, with light foxing and marking to the pages. Some of the pages show some creasing.
There are beautiful colour plates inside, as well as black and white line drawings within the text.
Dimensions approximately 22cm x 17cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
