This stunning collection of three books covers the North, South and Midlands. Abbeys, Castles and Ancient Halls of England and Wales was published by Frederick Warne and Co. The books themselves are undated but there is a written inscription inside each book dated 1927.
The books are uniformly bound in red cloth with gilt lettering and detail to the spines. They are in very good condition but do show crushing to the spine ends and minor splitting in the cloth. There is sunning to the cloth, particularly to the spines, and light bumping to the board edges.
Inside, there are inscriptions written on the front free endpapers. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. There are lovely black and white plates in all three volumes.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
