This stunning antique edition of The Deerslayer by James Fenimore Cooper was published by Frederick Warne and Co. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to have been published late in the Victorian Period (circa 1890-1900).
The book is bound in red cloth and features stunning foliage detail to the front board and spine. The book is in good condition with the spine showing the most noticeable wear - the The cloth is faded and spotted, with rubbing to the decoration and crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting and loss to the cloth. The corners are worn and there is a bump to the edge of the back board. The boards show light marking whilst the back board also shows some soiling.
Inside, there are two names written on the front pastedown and a pencilled date on the FFEP. The pages show light age toning and occasional mark/foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. There are cracks to the gutter in places - all pages remain tightly bound.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
I'm gradually switching over to eco-friendly packaging, including 100% recy
