This lovely edition of Out of Doors by J G Wood was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1891. It is a full cal leather school prize binding, with the school insignia stamped in gilt to the front. The spine features five raised bands gilt tooling and the text block edges are marbled.
It's in very good condition but there is rubbing to the corners and board edges. The leather shows scuffing and marking, with faint water staining to the edges. There are some very minor chips to the spine.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages are clean and bright with light age toning and sporadic foxing.
There are striking black and white illustration plates. Dimensions approximately 18.6cm x 12.9cm x 2.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
