This beautiful, antique edition of Culpeper's Complete Herbal includes The British Herbal and the Family Physician for the use of Private Families. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the late Victorian era circa 1890’s-1900’s. It's bound in original cloth, with bline stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front and gilt to the spine. 

It's in good condition but the book does show a forward lean, with wear to the corners and rubbing to the board edges. There is light foxing to the text block edges and minor marks to the cloth. The spine is faded, as are parts of the back board, and crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. 

Inside, the pages have tanning but only occasional foxing. The binding thread is pulling slightly at the gutter in places. There are stunning colour plates which add to the charms of this antique book, as well as a fold out plate opposite the title page - there are 25 plates in total, illustrating 120 flowers and plants.

This little book measures just 13cm x 9.7cm x 3.5cm.

All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
