This stunning and rare two volume set of The Book of the Boudoir by Lady Morgan was published for Henry Colburn in 1829. The books are bound in original cloth with paper boards.
The books are in good condition considering they're almost 200 years old. There is significant wear and crushing to the corners, with the paper split to reveal the board beneath. The board edges are also worn and bumped, with splitting/peeling to the paper. The boards show marking and scuffing, with some small splash stains and discolouration. The spines are sunned, and there is some splitting to the cloth at the spine ends - there is a longer split to the top front joint of volume i.
Inside, there are nameplates glued to the front pastedowns and there is slight cracking to some of the hinges. The pages show age toning and foxing but are remarkably clean for their age. The pages are rough cut and there are cracks to the gutter in places where the binding thread can be seen.
Dimensions of each volume approximately 20cm x 13cm x 3cm. The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon. I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
