This beautiful vintage hardback edition of The Big Otter by R M Ballantyne was published by James Nisbet & Co Ltd. The book itself isn't dated but there is a written inscription dated 1911. So the book is from the early part of the 20th Century.
The book is bound in blue cloth with beautiful pictorial decoration of a knight to the front board and spine. It's a striking design and in remarkably good condition for it's age. There is light rubbing to the corners and sunning to the spine. The spine ends are crushed and there is significant foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, there is a written inscription on the front free endpaper and the endpapers are tanned. The pages show age toning and foxing throughout and there is cracking to the gutter at the title page.
Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14.5cm x 4cm.
The books will be posted hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
