This beautiful vintage edition of Mr Orde's Grandchildren by Cecilia S Lowndes was published by James Nisbet & Co. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1898/99. So the book is late Victorian. It's bound in a stunning floral decorated cloth I've not seen before.
It's in good condition but there is light fading to the spine and around the edges of the boards. This doesn't detract from the pretty floral decoration. There is crushing to the spine ends and minor marking to the cloth.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front free endpaper and offsetting to the next page. There is tanning to the preliminary and end pages but the rest of the pages are clean and bright with only occasional handling marks. Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13.2cm x 3.1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
