This stunning antique edition of The Wits and Beaux of Society by Grace and Philip Wharton was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself isn't dated but I'd estimate it to be circa 1890's.
The book is bound in original brown cloth over bevelled boards, with pictorial decoration and gilt lettering to the front and spine. It's in very good condition with the most noticeable flaw being some white marks to the front and spine. There is light wear and bumping to the extremities of the book, and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the free endpapers are tanned and there is a name plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages are clean and bright with light age toning and occasional foxing. The book has a handful of black and white illustration plates. Dimensions approximately 18.9cm x 13.2cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
