This collection of four William Makepeace Thackeray books were published in the early 20th century by Thomas Nelson. Three were published in 1901 and one was published in 1902. The titles are Burlesques, Philip, Esmond and Catherine.
The books are uniformly bound in full leather and all edges are gilt. The spines feature five raised bands and beautiful gilt tooling in a striking floral design.
They're in very good condition with the main flaw being the sunning to the spines. The boards show some scuffs and faint marks, and the board edges show light shelf wear. The top edge of the text blocks are dulled.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. The paper is very thin so it's rippled. Each volume measures approximately 16.2cm x 11cm x 1.5cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
