This beautiful edition of Sketches of Animal Life and Habits by Andrew Wilson was published by W & R Chambers Ltd in 1877.
The book is bound in original red cloth with beautiful gilt decoration to the front and spine. All edges gilt. Externally, it's in very good condition with light wear and crushing to the corners. The boards show marking and there is sunning and light dulling to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the front free endpaper and half title page have been removed. There are two title pages, one is illustrated. There is cracking to the gutter at the title page but the pages remain tightly bound. The pages are clean and bright with occasional foxing and handling marks. The book is illustrated with black and white illustrations within the text.
Dimensions approximately 17.3cm x 12.8cm x 2.cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
