This beautiful vintage edition of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte was published by London & Glasgow, Collins Clear Type Press. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the early part of the 20th century (circa 1910-1920).
The book is bound in blue cloth with pretty gilt decoration in an art nouveau style to the front board and spine. It's a scarce binding and sought after with Bronte collectors.
It's in very good condition with the main flaw being the tanning and age spotting to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused very slight splitting in the cloth. The boards show minor marking and the corners are crushed. There is some foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, the pages show light age toning throughout, with some occasional marking and foxing. There is a name plate glued on the verso of the frontispiece. The bottom corners show very faint staining. There is some damage to the margins of pages 459-464.
The book features four striking colour plates by A Pearse.
Book Size: 18cm x 11.5cm x 2.5cm (Approx.)
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
