This beautiful edition of The Realm of the Ice King A Narrative of Arctic Exploration from Earliest Times to the Year 1883 was published by the Religious Tract Society. The book itself isn't dated but I'd estimate it to be late 19th century (circa 1890).
The book is bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards with stunning decoration in gilt and black to the front board and spine. All edges are gilt. It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and minor bumping to the board edges. The boards show light scuffing and marking, and the spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is an old price penned to the top corner of the front pastedown and a small ink stain. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing but are otherwise clean and bright.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
