This pretty edition of The Absentee by Maria Edgeworth was published in 1893 by J M Dent and Company. The book is bound in pale green cloth with dark green shamrocks to the boards and spine. There is also gilt titles and decoration to the front board and spine.
The book is in very good condition, with only light wear and bumping to the corners. There is a slight forward lean to the book and the boards show minor marking and rubbing. The spine is sunned, with crushing to the spine ends and a little bit of loss to the shamrocks.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there is a name and date written on the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning but are otherwise clean and bright. There is occasional foxing and faint staining to the top of the frontispiece and title page.
Dimensions of each volume approximately 17.6cm x 11.7cm x 2.1cm.
