This stunning Second Edition of Scenes and Sights in Town and Country was published by James B Knapp. The book is undated but after some research, I can date it to the 1890's. So the book is late Victorian.
It's bound in brown cloth with blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front. It's in very good condition but wear to the corners has caused minor splitting and fraying to the cloth. The spine is faintly sunned and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The preliminary and back pages are more noticeably tanned but the rest of the pages show lighter age toning. The text and illustrations are clear and bright.
Dimensions approximately 21.8cm x 17.2cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
