This stunning antique edition of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens was published by George Routledge. The book itself is undated but there is a name written inside dated 1886. So the book is late Victorian. It's bound in quarter brown cloth with pretty holly patterned paper boards.
It's in good condition, but there is significant wear and crushing to the corners, which has caused loss to the paper and splitting to the board. There is loss and chipping to the paper at the board edges and some very tiny chips to the paper covering the boards. The spine is faintly darkened and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a name plate glued to the front pastedown and a name and date pencilled to the front free endpaper. The pages show scattered foxing and sporadic handling marks. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 14.8cm x 10.7cm x 1.9cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
