This rare binding of Jane Eyre is one I've never seen before and it's got a lovely art nouveau floral pattern to the front board and spine. It was published by Cassell and Company in 1906 so the book is from the mid Edwardian era.
It's in good condition for it's age but there is marking and soiling to the boards. The back board is more noticeably discoloured, with scratching to the cloth. The board edges are rubbed and the corners are worn, with minor splitting in the cloth which reveals the board beneath. The spine is sunned and discoloured and crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth. There is light soiling to the text block edges.
Inside, there is a name written on the front free endpaper and slight cracking to the front hinge (there is also a very small tear to the top edge of the front pastedown). The pages show age toning and occasional marking and foxing. There is chipping to the bottom of the preliminary pages of the novel.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
