This beautiful French Book Pecheur d'Islande by Pierre Loti is bound in stunning quarter leather with marbled paper boards. Even the leather has a marbled effect which is unusual. The spine features four raised bands and striking floral decoration in red and gilt.
It's in very good condition with light rubbing to the corners and a very slight backward lean to the book. The spine is faded and discoloured with minor wear to the spine ends.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and there are no inscriptions. The pages show tanning with occasional foxing. There is a slight crack to the gutter after the title page but the pages remain tightly bound. There is a library sticker opposite the title page.
Dimensions approximately 20.1cm x 4.1cm x 3.8cm. The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
