This beautiful edition of Poems by Robert Louis Stevenson was published by Robert Riviere & Son. The book is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1929. So the book is likely to be from the 1920's. The book is bound in full leather with delicate gold gilt work in a thistle pattern to the front board.
It's in good condition for it's age but there is wear to the corners and board edges, with some surface loss to the leather in places. The boards are ever so slightly bowed and the back cover shows some minor marks and soiling. The spine is sunned and faintly mottled.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled but show light tanning and marking. The pages show light age toning but are otherwise clean and bright with occasional foxing. The tissue guard for the frontispiece is tanned.
The book features one black and white frontispiece which is a portrait of Robert Louis Stevenson - there are no other illustrations.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
