This beautiful Petit Paroissien book is a traditional Roman Catholic prayer book, printed in French, that contains the prayers and liturgies for daily and Sunday Mass plus other devotions for parishioners. It features an ornate full velvet binding with brass clasp and fittings. All edges are gilt. It's a stunning example of the exquisiteness of French bookbinding. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the mid to late 19th Century.
The book is in near fine condition with light wear to the board edges and rubbing to the spine edges. The book has a card slipcase which shows more wear - there is wear to the edges and corners, with some loss and splitting to the surface of the card. There is bumping to the corners of the slipcase.
Inside, there are moiré silk endpapers and no inscriptions. The pages show light age toning and scattered foxing throughout. There are a handful of pretty black and white plates, each with it's own tissue guard.
Dimensions (with slipcase) approximately 14.8cm x 11cm x 3.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
