This beautiful late 19th Century book is a French Catholic Prayer Book called Paroissien Romain. It is bound in full embossed leather with a ducal crest to the front. All edges gilt.
It's in good condition but there is some splitting to the external joints - despite this the boards remain securely attached. There is light wear and minor splitting to the leather at the spine ends. The corners show wear and bumping, with the leather split to reveal the board beneath.
Inside, there is soiling and marking to the moire silk endpapers and the pages show age toning throughout, with sporadic foxing. The chapter headers are illustrated. A few pages show heavier browning, particularly those adjacent to the pressed flowers (I've found two inside).
Dimensions approximately 12.6cm x 8.5cm x 3cm. The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
