This beautiful edition of Rex and Regina (or The Song of the River) by Emma Marshall was published James Nisbet & Co Limited in 1899. So the book is from the end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with stunning art nouveau decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. The spine ends are crushed and there is some minor marking to the cloth.
Inside, the pages are very tanned and there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. There is foxing to the endpapers and scattered sporadically through the book. There are also occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book dimensions are approximately 19.3cm x 13.5cm x 3.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
