This beautiful antique edition of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens was published by Cassell and Company Ltd. The book is undated but I'd estimate it be from circa 1900/1910.
This lovely vintage book is bound in brown cloth with a beautiful illustration to the front board. This is framed by blind stamped decoration in black. It's in very good condition, with just some light wear and fraying to the corners. The boards show light soiling and marking, and there are some tiny chips to the front illustration. There is rubbing to the spine edges and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the pages are very tanned throughout, with sporadic foxing and occasional stains. There is a 3cm tear to the edge of page 67. The gutter shows superficial cracking in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book has four illustration plates by Gordon Browne - both in colour and in black and white. Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 13cm x 4.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
