This stunning floral binding for Melbourne House by Susan Warner was produced for the Sunrise Series by Faudel, Phillips and Sons. The book itself is undated but there is a penned name inside dated 1896. So the book is late Victorian.
It's in good condition but there is fading to the spine and crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth. There are some scratches to the gilt on the spine. The boards also show some discolouration and light marking.
Inside, there is a penned name to the front free endpaper and the pages show heavy tanning throughout. There is also sporadic foxing.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13.1cm x 3.3cm. The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
